THE EFFECT OF PROVIDING FERMENTED TOFU DUMP IN RATIONS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF KUB VILLAGE CHICKENS
Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of incorporating fermented tofu waste into the diet on the performance of KUB native laying hens. A total of 48 five-month-old KUB hens were used in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments: P0 (100% commercial feed), P1 (95% commercial feed + 5% fermented tofu waste), and P2 (90% commercial feed + 10% fermented tofu waste), each with four replications. Parameters observed included feed intake (FI), hen day production (HDA), egg weight, egg mass (EM), and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The results showed that the addition of 10% fermented tofu waste (P2) significantly (P<0.05) reduced FI compared to P0, while significantly increasing HDA, egg weight, and EM (P<0.05). However, FCR values increased in P2, indicating lower feed efficiency. Overall, incorporating up to 10% fermented tofu waste in the diet improved egg production and egg weight, although further optimization of feed efficiency is required
