  1. Scope and Policy

Jurnal Agrotropika publishes original scientific papers resulting from basic and applied research in tropical agronomy. The scope includes, but is not limited to, crop and seed production, horticulture, plant breeding, weed and pest management, tissue culture, biotechnology, postharvest technology, mycorrhiza, sustainable agriculture, soil and plant nutrition, agroclimatology, agroecosystems, plant biodiversity, and ethnoagronomy.
Only manuscripts based on research conducted within the last five years will be considered for publication.

  1. Manuscript Types

The journal accepts full-length research articles. Review papers may be considered upon editorial approval.

 

  1. Manuscript Preparation

3.1 General Format

  • Manuscripts must be written in English and Indonesian, single-column, using A4 paper size (210 × 297 mm).
  • Use Arial font, size 11 pt throughout the text (including tables and figures), except for the title (14 pt) and abstract (9 pt).
  • Line spacing is single, and paragraphs are justified. The first line of each paragraph should be indented 1 cm.
  • Margins: Top 3 cm, Bottom 2.5 cm, Left 3 cm, Right 2.5 cm.
  • Do not use footnotes, underlines, or excessive bolding.
  • Manuscripts should be 7–15 pages in length.

3.2 Structure of the Manuscript

A complete manuscript must include the following sections in order:

  1. Title (in Indonesian and English)
    • Written in Arial 14 pt, bold, and between 50–100 characters.
  • Concise, informative, and accurately representing the study content.

 

  1. Author(s) Name and Affiliation
    • Full names (not abbreviated).
    • Indicate institutional affiliation: Faculty, University, City, Country.
    • Corresponding author should be marked with an asterisk (*) and provide an email address.
  1. Abstract (in English)
    • Written in Arial 9 pt, containing the research objectives, methodology, results, and conclusion.
    • Length: 150–250 words.
  2. Abstrak (in Indonesian)
    • Follows the same structure as the English abstract.
  3. Keywords / Kata Kunci
    • Four to five keywords, written in italics.
    • The first letter of each keyword is capitalized.
  4. Introduction
    • Clearly state the background, rationale, problem formulation, and objectives of the study.
    • Provide relevant and up-to-date literature.
  5. Materials and Methods
    • Describe materials, research design, data collection, and analytical procedures in sufficient detail to allow replication.
    • Use subsections as necessary:
      • 2.1 Subheading (Bold, Title Case)
      • Sub-subheading (Italicized, Title Case)
  6. Results and Discussion
    • Results should be presented clearly, supported by tables, figures, or graphs.
    • Discussion should interpret findings, supported by relevant references.
    • Figures and tables must be cited in the text and formatted as follows:
      • Table titles are placed above the table.
      • Figure titles are placed below the figure.
      • Both use Arial 11 pt, single-spaced, justified, and numbered sequentially.
      • Figures must have a minimum resolution of 600 dpi.
  7. Conclusion
    • Concise summary of findings without numbering or bullet points.
    • Avoid repeating numerical data already presented in Results.
  8. Acknowledgements (if applicable)
    • Mention individuals or institutions contributing to the research or funding.
  9. References
    • References must follow the APA citation style (7th edition).
    • Only include references cited in the manuscript.
    • At least 75% of references should be from primary and recent sources (last five years).
    • Authors are required to cite at least one article from Jurnal Agrotropika.
    • Examples:
      • Journal article:
        Chowdhury, S., Ndana, M. K., Madan, S., & Saha, G. (2010). Studies on yield limiting meteorological factors for production of rabi pigeon pea in West Bengal. Journal of Agrometeorology, 12(1), 64–68.
      • Conference proceeding:
        Howell, T. A., Schneider, A. D., & Jensen, M. E. (1991). History of lysimeter design and use for evapotranspiration measurements. In Proceedings of the Conference on Lysimeters for Evapotranspiration and Environmental Measurements (pp. 1–9). Honolulu: ASCE.
      • Book:
        Havlin, J. L., Tisdale, S. L., Beaton, J. C., & Nelson, W. L. (2005). Soil Fertility and Fertilizers: An Introduction to Nutrient Management (7th ed.). Pearson Prentice Hall.
  1. Submission and Publication
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in both DOC and PDF formats through the online submission system.
  • The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have approved the final version.
  • Manuscripts exceeding the maximum page limit or failing to follow the format may be rejected before review.
  • Publication fees apply upon final acceptance.
  1. Copyright and Ethics

Copyright of the published article belongs to the authors, while the publisher (Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung) retains the publication rights.
All forms of reproduction or distribution require written permission from the copyright holder.
