ABOUT THE JOURNAL
Correction and Retraction
1. Policy Statement
Jurnal Agrotek Tropika (JAT) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record.
The journal recognizes that errors or ethical concerns may be identified after an article has been published.
When such issues arise, the Editorial Board will consider appropriate post-publication actions, including corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions, in accordance with recognized publication ethics principles.
2. Corrections
A correction may be issued when an error affects the accuracy, presentation, or interpretation of a published article but does not invalidate its principal findings or conclusions.
Examples may include:
-
Errors in tables, figures, or numerical values.
-
Incorrect author names or institutional affiliations.
-
Errors in descriptions of research procedures.
-
Incorrect bibliographic information.
-
Other substantive inaccuracies requiring formal clarification.
Corrections should clearly identify the original article, describe the error, and provide the corrected information.
Where appropriate, the correction notice should be linked electronically to the original publication.
3. Retractions
A retraction may be considered when a published article contains serious problems that render its findings unreliable or compromise the integrity of the scholarly record.
Reasons for retraction may include:
-
Fabrication or falsification of research data.
-
Serious methodological or analytical errors that invalidate the conclusions.
-
Plagiarism or substantial unauthorized reproduction of scholarly material.
-
Redundant or duplicate publication.
-
Manipulation of the peer review process.
-
Serious research ethics violations.
-
Other substantiated circumstances that make the article's findings unreliable.
Retraction is intended primarily to correct the scholarly record rather than to punish authors.
4. Expressions of Concern
An expression of concern may be issued when substantial questions arise regarding the reliability or integrity of a published article but the available evidence is insufficient to support a definitive conclusion.
An expression of concern may also be appropriate when an investigation is ongoing and readers should be informed of potentially significant issues.
The notice should explain the nature of the concern without presenting unverified allegations as established facts.
5. Investigation Procedures
When a potential error or serious publication concern is reported, the Editorial Board should undertake an appropriate preliminary assessment.
Depending on the circumstances, the editorial process may involve:
-
Reviewing the published article and relevant evidence.
-
Requesting clarification or supporting data from the authors.
-
Consulting independent experts or the Editorial Board.
-
Contacting the authors' institutions when formal investigation is necessary.
-
Determining an appropriate editorial response based on the available evidence.
Authors should generally be given an opportunity to respond to the concerns raised before a final editorial decision is reached.
6. Publication of Notices
Corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern should be published transparently and clearly identified.
Each notice should:
-
Identify the original article.
-
State the reason for the editorial action.
-
Indicate the party responsible for the notice, where appropriate.
-
Provide a clear electronic link to the affected publication.
Retracted articles should ordinarily remain accessible as part of the scholarly record and be clearly identified as retracted.
Complete removal of published material should be reserved for exceptional circumstances involving legal obligations, serious privacy violations, or substantial risks of harm.
7. Author-Initiated Corrections
Authors who identify significant errors in their published work are responsible for notifying the Editorial Office promptly.
The Editorial Board will evaluate whether the issue requires a formal correction, retraction, or other editorial action.
8. Editorial Independence
The decision to issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction rests with the authorized editorial leadership.
Such decisions should be based on scientific evidence, publication ethics, and the integrity of the scholarly record.
9. Ethical Framework
Jurnal Agrotek Tropika considers the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines on retractions and related post-publication actions.
The journal is committed to addressing publication errors and ethical concerns fairly, transparently, and consistently.
