Post-Publication Discussion, Correction, and Retraction Policy

Jurnal Teknik Pertanian Lampung (JTEP) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes the importance of post-publication discussion and the need to address errors or ethical concerns that may arise after an article has been published.

Readers, researchers, and authors may report errors, raise scientific concerns, or submit comments regarding articles published in JTEP. All concerns will be considered by the editorial team and assessed according to their nature, seriousness, and supporting evidence.

Post-Publication Discussion

JTEP welcomes constructive scientific comments and feedback on published articles. Comments may address the research methodology, data interpretation, findings, conclusions, or other aspects relevant to the scientific validity and contribution of an article.

Submissions must be scientifically justified, relevant to the original publication, and presented in a professional and respectful manner. Personal attacks, defamatory statements, and unsupported allegations will not be considered.

The editorial team will assess submitted comments and determine whether further clarification or action is necessary. Where appropriate, the authors of the original article may be contacted and given an opportunity to respond. The editor may also consult independent experts when additional scientific assessment is required.

Post-publication comments and responses may be considered for publication at the editor's discretion, subject to their relevance, scientific merit, and compliance with the journal's editorial policies.

Corrections

JTEP may publish a correction when an error is identified in a published article and the error can be addressed without invalidating the overall reliability of the research findings.

Corrections may concern errors in text, figures, tables, author information, or other publication details. Substantive errors affecting the interpretation of the research will be assessed by the editor to determine whether a formal correction is necessary.

Requests for correction may be submitted by the authors or other parties who identify a potential error. The editorial team will review the information provided and may request clarification or supporting evidence from the authors before making a decision.

When a correction is approved, the journal will publish an appropriate correction notice and link it to the original article, where applicable. Minor typographical or formatting errors that do not affect the meaning or scientific integrity of an article may be addressed at the editor's discretion without a separate correction notice.

Retractions

Retraction may be considered when serious concerns undermine the reliability, validity, or ethical integrity of a published article. Possible grounds for retraction include, but are not limited to:

  • Fabrication or falsification of research data or results.
  • Substantial plagiarism or other serious forms of publication misconduct.
  • Serious errors that invalidate the main findings or conclusions.
  • Duplicate or redundant publication that violates publication ethics.
  • Unethical research practices or other serious ethical violations.
  • Other circumstances in which retraction is necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

When a potential reason for retraction is identified, the editorial team will assess the available evidence and may request an explanation from the authors. Where necessary, the editor may consult independent experts, the authors' affiliated institutions, or other relevant parties.

The decision to retract an article will be made by the editor based on the available evidence and the seriousness of the concern. Authors will normally be given an opportunity to respond before a final decision is made.

If retraction is warranted, JTEP will publish a retraction notice explaining the reason for the decision, to the extent appropriate. The notice will be linked to the original article, which will normally remain accessible in the journal's archive and be clearly marked as retracted to preserve the transparency of the scholarly record.

Reporting Concerns and Editorial Action

Readers, researchers, and other parties who identify potential errors, research misconduct, or ethical concerns in a published article may contact the editorial team and provide relevant details and supporting evidence.

All reports will be assessed fairly and objectively. The editorial team may request additional information from the parties involved or seek independent advice when necessary. The appropriate action will depend on the nature and seriousness of the concern and the evidence available.

Submitting a comment or reporting a concern does not automatically result in a correction or retraction. The editor will determine the appropriate course of action following an assessment of the information provided.

Ethical Standards

JTEP handles post-publication concerns in accordance with its Publication Ethics and Plagiarism Policy and the relevant recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The journal is committed to addressing concerns responsibly, protecting the integrity of published research, and maintaining transparency in the scholarly record. Authors are expected to cooperate with the editorial team when questions arise regarding the accuracy or ethical integrity of their published work.
