AI Generative Policy

JTIHP POLICIES FOR GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

The utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, such ChatGPT and Large Language Models (LLM), for scientific articles is increasing significantly. The JTIHP has implemented a policy regarding the utilization of AI tools to aid in manuscript composition, as outlined below:

For Authors

  1. AI tools are ineligible to be designated as authors or co-authors in academic works. AI tools fail to satisfy the criteria for authorship, as they cannot be held accountable for the outcomes of their work.
  2. Authors may utilize AItools to enhance readability, rectify spelling and punctuation, and perform general editing of their writings. Nonetheless, AI tools need not to be employed for hypothesis generation, data interpretation, or conclusion formulation.
  3. Authors employing AI tools for figure or graph generation, or for data collection and analysis, must incorporate a Materials and Methods section in their article detailing the application and type of AI tool utilized.
  4. Authors bear complete responsibility for the content of their manuscript, including sections generated by an AI tool, and are therefore accountable for any violations of publication ethics.
  5. Authors utilizing AI tools for manuscript writing, image production, or data collection and analysis must transparently disclose the specific tools employed in the relevant section of the manuscript, accompanied by an additional disclosure statement in the Acknowledgments section of the paper.
  6. A standard disclosure statement must be articulated as follows:

This manuscript was prepared by the author(s) using [TOOL/SERVICE NAME] for [SPECIFIC PURPOSE]. The author(s) took full responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the published work after utilizing this tool/service, reviewing and revising the content as needed.

Example:

This manuscript was prepared by the author(s) using ChatGPT for rectify spelling and improve grammar. The author(s) took full responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the published work after utilizing this tool/service, reviewing and revising the content as needed.

For Reviewers and Editors

  1. Reviewers and Editors are prohibited from uploading papers or any portion thereof onto publicly accessible AI systems, as submitted manuscripts are secret.
  2. Generative AI toolsshould not be employed to assess or condense scientific material or render peer review evaluations, as peer review necessitates human knowledge and accountability.
  3. Reviewer and editorial decisions must be determined by human judgment. Generative AI can aid in technical assessments (e.g., plagiarism detection, metadata analysis), but it should not replace editorial judgment or decision-making.
  4. If reviewers or editors detect a potential breach of our AI policy, they must undertake appropriate measures, including soliciting clarification, requesting adjustments, or rejecting the submission.
